After several applicants and interviews, Tecumseh Public Schools has named Kimberly Irish as the next principal of Tecumseh High School.
During the Board of Education meeting on Monday, August 8, board members unanimously approved Mrs. Irish to fill the vacant position.
Mrs. Irish has an extensive educational background. Prior to joining Tecumseh Public Schools, she was employed by Morenci Area Schools. Most recently, Mrs. Irish was the principal at Morenci Middle School and High School. She held that position for the last 9 years. Prior to that, she was a teacher for the school district for 15 years.
With her lengthy experience in public education, Mrs. Irish is ready to get the ball rolling at TPS.
“I am very excited and thankful to have this opportunity,” said Irish. “Tecumseh has so many great things happening with some impressive achievements and I look forward to being part of moving the district forward while serving the district and the community.”
Throughout the search process for a new principal at THS, it was important for Superintendent Rick Hilderley and the board to find someone with the pedigree Mrs. Irish has.
“THS is getting a leader who is firmly established and respected in our county. I expect that staff and students are going to appreciate Kim’s effort and ability,” Superintendent Hilderley said. “I know she will make a difference here!”
The Board of Education was satisfied with the interview process, which included several board members, numerous TPS staff members, and even a Tecumseh High School student.
“I was really happy with the participation that the student gave, and also when the candidates asked questions to our staff about the culture here. A lot of great things were said.” said TPS board president Tony Rebottaro. “
Mrs. Irish’s tenure with TPS will officially begin on August 22.
