Tecumseh Public Schools is entering the next phase of introducing a new bond proposal to the stakeholders of Tecumseh.
On May 3rd, voters in Tecumseh and Raisin Township narrowly voted down a bond proposal presented by the District. The proposal was a renewal of the 7.2 mills, which will now decrease by 3.6 mills at the end of June.
TPS is scheduled to host two public meetings with the community regarding the outcome of the Special Election on May 3rd. These meetings are not a presentation, but rather a conversation about why the bond didn’t gel with voters. The goal is to learn about what the community liked and didn’t like about the renewal.
Meeting Schedule:
- Thursday, May 26, 7pm - Tecumseh High School (Media Center), 760 Brown Street
- Tuesday, May 31, 6pm - Virtual Meeting (Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/s/88119542186)
Along with a recent public survey about the bond, the District will take these responses back to the Building Futures Committee. TPS will work with the BFC, TMP Architecture, Inc., and Plante Moran CRESA on the development of a new bond proposal.
As of right now, Tecumseh Public Schools is aiming to place the bond proposal on the general election ballot, which is Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
