As the current health order from the Michigan Health and Human Services is set to expire Sunday, December 20th, leaders at Tecumseh Public Schools are updating learning plans as we approach the new year.
• Currently, students at the high school are in the distance learning format. Regardless if the health order is extended or expires, high school students will STAY in the distance learning format through December 22nd. As of right now, THS students are expected to resume the hybrid learning plan after the Holiday Break. Classes resume January 4th, 2021.
• In-person instruction for K-8 students doesn't change.
• Tuesday, December 22nd, is a half day of instruction for all students, K-12.
If any of these plans change, families will be informed through TPS social media platforms and Blackboard.
It's important that proper protocol is followed by TPS families. Parents are asked to notify the district any time a student is in contact with a positive COVID-19 case. Parents are also asked to not send a student to school who has been tested and is awaiting results.
TPS continues to follow the full safety recommendations of the CDC, which is a full 14-day quarantine for a contact to a positive diagnosis. While shorter timelines are sometimes allowed, the 14-day timeline is still considered the safest approach and is recommended for large group settings like school buildings.
