Tecumseh Public Schools is helping spread the word about Michigan Summer EBT, a new program designed to help families buy groceries for their school-aged children during the summer months. Each eligible child will receive $120 to purchase food, giving families extra support when school meals aren’t available.

Who is Eligible?

Your child may be eligible for Summer EBT if they meet one of the following article:

  • Between July 30, 2024, and August 31, 2025, they received SNAP (food benefits), TANF (cash assistance), or Medicaid with income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.

  • They are categorically eligible, including foster children, homeless youth, migrants, or runaways.

  • They are approved for free or reduced-price meals through an approved school meal application or direct certification.

Do I Need to Apply?

Some families will automatically receive Summer EBT benefits and do not need to apply. Your family will automatically qualify if:

  • Your child receives SNAP, TANF, or certain types of Medicaid benefits.

  • Your child is approved for free or reduced-price meals through a school meal application.

  • Your child is in foster care, homeless, a migrant, or a runaway.

If your family qualifies automatically, you'll receive a notice in the mail with more information. No application needed!

However, if your child doesn’t meet these automatic qualifications, you may need to apply. The application is available online through the MI Bridges portal. Paper applications will be available soon.

Important Reminders

  • If you’ve moved recently, please update your address with your child’s school and/or MDHHS to ensure you receive important information.

  • Summer EBT benefits expire 122 days after they are issued, so be sure to use them before they expire.

  • Receiving Summer EBT will not affect your immigration status or your child’s status.
