Today, we’re recognizing someone who helps students build confidence and critical thinking skills through mathematics—Emily Stoddard, a math teacher at Tecumseh High School!
Meet Emily Stoddard
From guiding students through complex equations to fostering a love for learning, Emily Stoddard is passionate about making math accessible and engaging for all. She currently teaches Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Algebra, ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed.
What do you enjoy most about working at TPS?
"One of the aspects I appreciate most about TPS is the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues. At THS, we have teachers, support staff, counselors, and others who are supportive, collaborative, and dedicated to delivering an excellent education for our students. Furthermore, the administration at THS is highly supportive and actively works to promote a positive school environment."
What’s one thing you wish people knew about the work you do?
"I wish more people understood the time and dedication involved not only in teaching but also in cultivating a positive environment that promotes effective learning. Much of a teacher's effort takes place outside of the classroom, including lesson preparation, grading, and identifying ways to meet each student's individual needs. The teachers here at TPS work diligently to ensure that every student receives the support necessary for their success."
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
"When I'm not at work, I enjoy golfing and playing board games with friends. I also have a passion for traveling and maintain a map in my classroom to showcase the places I have visited, which often leads to fun conversations with my students."
