Outstanding performances by Tecumseh Middle and High School students in the recent Equations "Super Tournament" at the Lenawee Intermediate School District TECH Center. The students showcased their problem-solving prowess and love for mathematics, competing against other Lenawee County schools.
The results speak volumes of the dedication and talent of Tecumseh students. In the 5th and 6th grade divisions, Tecumseh secured 1st place in Division 1 and 3rd place in Division 2. In the 7th and 8th grade divisions, they secured 2nd place in Division 1, 3rd place in Division 2, and another 2nd place in Division 3. Notably, the THS Equations Team swept all divisions, with Division 1 scoring an impressive 88 out of 90 and Division 2 scoring an admirable 82.
"I'm extremely proud of how everyone played. There is a wide range of talent on this team; from those who have been playing since 5th grade to those who have just joined this year," said Will Ramsell, math teacher at Tecumseh High School. "Everyone pulled their weight, and they represented our school in the best way possible. We never take anything for granted; we know that anything can happen during a round and if you aren't careful, our competition will hold us accountable."
Credit is also due to teachers Mr. Ramsell and Jan Garner for their efforts in preparing the students for this demanding competition. Additionally, recognition goes out to TPS Board of Education Trustee Greg Lewis for generously volunteering his time to support the event.
"We take every tournament seriously and we know that nothing is guaranteed," added Mr. Ramsell. "It was a great run this year and we look forward to building on our team next year with new additions as we lose our seniors."
