Congratulations to Tecumseh High School junior Aiden Atkin for securing second place in the state of Michigan in the Trig-Star test!
Trig-Star, sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors, is a competition that honors and rewards high school students who excel in mathematics, particularly Trigonometry, as well as their teachers. The program aims to demonstrate the practical applications of mathematics and increase awareness of the surveying profession.
At THS, students who have taken Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, or AP Calculus BC are eligible to participate in the Trig-Star test. Under the guidance of math teacher Will Ramsell, students prepare by studying topics such as the law of sines, the law of cosines, converting to DMS, finding arc length, and more.
THS has a strong track record in this competition, winning the state test for the past three years. This year, Aiden's impressive performance earned him second place.
Congratulations, Aiden!

This Memorial Day, we honor all who have died in service to the United States during peace and war. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.
Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day began during the Civil War when citizens placed flowers on the graves of those who had fallen in battle. After World War I, the observance expanded to honor those who died in all U.S. wars, and the name was changed to Memorial Day.
Today, Memorial Day is marked by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. It is also observed in religious services, parades, and speeches nationwide.

Third and fourth graders from the ILCs visited Tecumseh Middle School and had the opportunity to tour the building, meet staff, visit different classrooms, and more! Leading the way were 6th-8th grade National Junior Honor Society members. They guided their younger peers throughout the building and answered any questions that came their way.
The same thing happened at Tecumseh High School. Eighth-grade students took tours of the building led by current high school student leaders.

A bit of gardening was on tap today for Tecumseh Middle School students.
Students from Joe Bundas' classes stopped at Douglas W. Bird Memorial Park near TMS to pull garlic mustard plants.
Garlic mustard is an invasive plant. Over the past 150 years, garlic mustard has extended its reach across much of the United States, establishing itself as a major threat to American Northeast and Midwest forests. Its invasive nature is evident in its capacity to create dense thickets, suppressing native plant growth in the forest understory by monopolizing essential resources such as light, water, and nutrients.
Such activities give students practical environmental stewardship experience, raise awareness about invasive species and conservation, and foster a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness among young people.
Early Release day for ALL students on Wednesday, May 1.
Students at Tecumseh High School had a blast in a soccer tournament. The World Language Department hosted the tournament, and each class represented a different country.
After intense matches, Argentina and Equatorial Guinea faced off in the finals, resulting in a tie game.
The excitement didn’t stop there. THS teachers and staff joined in on the fun with a pie-in-the-face fundraiser to support students’ upcoming trip to Spain. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, several hundred dollars were raised for the trip.
This event was such a hit that we plan to make it an annual tradition!
On Administrative Professionals Day, we extend our gratitude to the office staff in every building for their unwavering commitment and dedication.
Their professionalism is evident in their exceptional service to our students, families, and TPS staff.
You are the indispensable thread that binds our team. Thank you for your invaluable service to TPS!
