Tecumseh High School recently held a vibrant Career Exploration Fair featuring over 50 businesses from Lenawee County and the surrounding areas. Organized by the THS Counseling Department, the event offered students a unique chance to connect with employers and explore various career opportunities.
A key highlight of the fair was the active participation of students, who eagerly completed questionnaires designed to help them discover career paths that best matched their interests and strengths. Throughout the event, students engaged with local businesses, asking insightful questions about the skills and qualifications required for different roles. They also explored education and training options and the starting salaries for entry-level positions in various industries.
"The Career Exploration Fair gave our students an incredible opportunity to engage directly with potential employers and learn about the skills they’ll need to succeed in their future careers," said Jami Cole, a counselor at Tecumseh High School. "Events like this help bridge the gap between education and the workforce, providing invaluable real-world insight for our students."
The event was a fruitful platform for businesses, allowing them to connect with students who may become future employees. These conversations between students and industry professionals offered valuable insights beyond what is typically covered in the classroom.
"We’re grateful for the tremendous support from local businesses and the community," said Vic Pratt, Director of Communications for Tecumseh Public Schools. "Their involvement makes a difference in helping our students prepare for life after high school, whether in higher education or entering the workforce."
The success of the Career Exploration Fair was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the THS Counseling Department and Align Center for Workforce Development. Special thanks also go to the Maintenance Department for their hard work in preparing the high school to host so many visitors.
As Tecumseh High School continues to prioritize initiatives that connect education with real-world experience, events like the Career Exploration Fair play a vital role in helping students explore career paths and make informed decisions about their futures.
