At Tecumseh Public Schools, we take pride in our incredible team of educators and support staff who go above and beyond for our students and community every day. To celebrate their hard work and dedication, we’re excited to introduce our new series: This is Us: Staff Spotlight!
Through this series, we’ll share the stories of the people who make TPS a special place to learn, grow, and thrive. From teachers and instructional assistants to custodians and bus drivers, everyone plays a vital role in our students’ success.
To kick off the series, we’re thrilled to feature Carrie Barden, someone who truly embodies the spirit of teamwork and “getting the job done.”
Meet Carrie Barden
Carrie Barden is much more than a 5th-grade teacher at TPS—she’s a Builders Club Advisor, National Junior Honor Society Advisor, concession stand worker, volunteer scheduler, van driver, trash picker-upper, hallway harasser (to get to class!), activity night planner, flyer maker, and overall “just get the job doner!”
When asked about her favorite part of working at TPS, Carrie said:
"I love building meaningful relationships with students, teaching both in and out of the classroom, and helping raise students who value and contribute to their community. As Ken Blanchard says, ‘The best minute you will ever spend is the one you invest in others.’"
Carrie also highlighted the teamwork it takes to make a difference:
"It’s not just about teaching lessons or managing a school day. It’s about investing in each student’s growth, well-being, and future. It takes a whole team—teachers, secretaries, custodial staff, lunchroom workers, instructional assistants, bus drivers, and so many others—to create an environment where students can thrive."
When she’s not busy at work, Carrie enjoys camping with family and friends, cheering on her kids in their activities, and relaxing with a good book in the summer sun.
Carrie, thank you for your dedication, positivity, and the many hats you wear to support our students and staff! You’re a shining example of what makes TPS such a wonderful community.
