Tecumseh Public Schools Superintendent Rick Hilderley has earned high marks during his most recent annual evaluation with the school district.
The Board of Education has rated Superintendent Hilderley “highly effective” for the 2022 calendar year. The board concluded the annual evaluation during the Monday, January 23rd board meeting.
The annual evaluation is based on a multicategory scoring system by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB). The system rates a superintendent on a scale of 1 to 4, with 4 considered “highly effective.” The evaluation consists of a self-evaluation from the superintendent and one from the school board.
Board president Tony Rebottaro says the rating is a vote of confidence in Superintendent Hilderley’s leadership and ability to keep the district moving in the right direction.
“The Board of Education would like to recognize Mr. Hilderley for his high level of service and professionalism as the Superintendent of our schools,” said Rebottaro. “Our students continue to flourish and grow under his guidance. We encourage him to continue to demand excellence from his staff and to make the tough decisions needed to make Tecumseh Public Schools a center of excellence in education.”
Superintendent Hilderley was rated in five areas: Governance and Board Relations, Community Relations, Staff Relations, Business and Finance, and Instructional Leadership.
“This rating reflects the work this whole district is doing,” said Superintendent Hilderley. “Forty percent of my evaluation is based on student growth, so the only way I get there is through the hard work of others. I appreciate the rating, and I love serving this school system.”
Superintendent Hilderley has held the top job at Tecumseh Public Schools since November 2019. Before rejoining the district, he was the superintendent of Bronson Community Schools from July 2017 to October 2019.
Prior to his time at Bronson, Superintendent Hilderley served several roles at TPS, including principal of Tecumseh Middle School, Herrick Park and Patterson elementary schools, and a teacher in the district.
