Following a rigorous round of interviews held on Saturday, March 16, the Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education has advanced two candidates from a pool of four to the next stage of the selection process.
Stephen Doerr, Superintendent of East Jackson Community Schools, and Matt Hilton, Executive Director for Elementary Education at Ann Arbor Public Schools, have emerged as the finalists. They will proceed to the next round of interviews, scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, during a “Special” Board of Education Meeting. As with all Board of Education meetings, this meeting is open to the public.
The interview schedule is as follows:
Stephen Doerr - 6 pm
Superintendent of East Jackson Community Schools (since 2016)
Matt Hilton - 7:30 pm
Executive Director for Elementary Education at Ann Arbor Public Schools (since 2021)
Before the start of the meeting, there will be an opportunity for a meet and greet with the candidates, starting at 4 pm in the Media Center of Tecumseh High School.
Following the interviews, the Board of Education will deliberate and discuss the candidates in an open session accessible to the public. They will then make their final selection for the next Superintendent of Tecumseh Public Schools.
The selected candidate is anticipated to begin in June 2024.
The Board extends its gratitude to all candidates who participated in the interview process: Mr. Doerr, Mr. Hilton, Mrs. Kimberly Irish, and Mr. Aaron Shinn.
Throughout this process, the Board received valuable assistance from Dr. Rodney Green, a consultant from the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).
