It was storytime today with special guests at Tecumseh Acres Early Learning Center. Dylan Bloomfield, a 2008 Tecumseh High School graduate, joined students via Zoom to read, color, and draw from a book he co-created. Bloomfield illustrated the book ‘Koby & Egbert Go Surfing.’ It’s the first book in a series he and his partner Jonah Heller created called Salty Pineapple Kids. The book introduces the audience to Koby and Egbert. Koby is a pineapple, and Egbert is an eggplant. They are friends and learn that teamwork makes the dream work. After reading the book, students colored alongside Dylan. Dylan would then draw Koby, much to the students liking.

HIMS A GOOD BOY!!! But don't be fooled by his good looks. He's heavily trained to assist police and other law enforcement officials, and he's ready to go. This morning, K9 Havoc took a break from catching criminals and working on investigations to visit the students at Herrick Park Intermediate Learning Center. Havoc's handler, Trooper Jack Taeff, and Trooper Don Stewart of the Michigan State Police talked about Havoc's role in day-to-day operations, training procedures, and more. Just a few of Havoc's jobs are narcotics detection, officer protection, suspect apprehension, and building clearance. According to Tpr. Taeff and Tpr. Stewart, Havoc sure loves being the center of attention. Before leaving, he received a bunch of pets from students and staff! K9 Havoc will be visiting Patterson Intermediate Learning Center later this afternoon.

On Monday, the Board of Education approved a new boiler for the Tecumseh Community Pool. Several days later, it's already here! As most of you are aware, the outgoing boiler has pretty much reached the end of its life. We bid it farewell. This project is getting underway, and the whole process will take a month or less to complete. Pool operations should not be affected by the project. We think pool director Sarah Eubanks is pretty happy!

Right now, Leadership students from Tecumseh High School are doing their part to maybe ease the awkwardness and anxiety for our youngest Tecumseh Middle School students. They're creating Puberty Kits for 5th graders. These types of kits usually consist of things like deodorant, body wash, and other products. If you're interested in helping out, the Leadership class has created an Amazon Wish List. We're looking to collect items by February 10th. Thanks! Students from Siena Heights University and Adrian College popped in for a visit yesterday at Tecumseh Middle School. The college students are soon-to-be teachers and worked with the TMS Educators Rising Club on a project. Our students created poster-size bulletin boards focused on a children’s story. The group works with our middle schoolers on the best skills and strategies to read aloud a book to young students. Teacher and advisor Jennifer Gentry led the way, guiding students on questions and other details.

There’s been an overwhelming amount of support for Tecumseh Middle School student Vann Burpee and his family. If you remember, Vann was diagnosed with a malignant non-operable brain tumor. He’s already gone through several surgeries and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. If you would like to support Vann and his family, the ‘Victory for Vann’ t-shirt fundraiser is still going. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Burpee family in support of Vann’s treatment. Thank you! 'Victory for Vann' ➡️➡️ https://bit.ly/3vxazQk
