There's new weapons in the fight to protect students and staff at Tecumseh Public Schools.
With the pandemic affecting nearly every industry, including school districts, federal COVID-19 educational relief funds have been made available to Michigan. Those funds have been dished out to local school districts, and Tecumseh is no different.
The money TPS has received is going towards COVID-19 related items. The district has purchased the Plasma Air system and the Clorox Total 360 system. These systems are aimed at helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Plasma Air technology can operate continuously within an HVAC system. That means the air purification occurs even when the students and teachers are in class. The CDC recommends that schools consider ventilation system upgrades or improvements to increase clean air delivery.
In independent testing, the Plasma Air ionizers reduced 99% of MS2 Bacteriophage. That's a surrogate for the virus causing COVID-19.
The Clorox Total 360 system will be in every single school building. The T360 is a surface treatment system that combines Clorox products to quickly and easily provide superior coverage in even the hardest-to-reach places. The district will be using the system to disinfect and sanitize high-touch surfaces in all of the schools.
This system is EPA-approved to kill the COVID-19 disease. According to the manufacturer, the Clorox T360 kills 99.9% of bacteria in just 5 seconds, has a one-step disinfecting process, eliminates odors and sanitizes soft surfaces.
These products purchased by the district will go a long way in protecting students and staff at Tecumseh Public Schools. The district's main focuses are providing quality air and disinfecting surfaces in the buildings.
