Today was a great learning experience for some of our Tecumseh High School students. 10th-grade students from Ms. Arnold's AP World and World History classes traveled to Dearborn to visit the Arab American National Museum. This field trip was a cultural extension activity related to the World History curriculum. After the museum visit, everyone headed to Shatila Bakery for some authentic Mediterranean pastries.

A fun time yesterday at Sutton Early Learning Center. Students and staff participated in a PBIS school-wide celebration for being Safe, Kind, and Responsible. Students can earn pride tickets for being Safe, Kind, and Responsible. Each teacher keeps a tally of the tickets as they work to reach their class goals. When the school hits its goal, there's a school-wide celebration. In this case, a dance party! PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It promotes positive relationships among students and staff and creates a respectful culture for all students.

During AP testing last school year, Tecumseh High School students smashed the state and national average. Out of the 37 AP Calculus students who took the AB exam, all 37 passed! They combined for a 4.51 on a five-point scale. Teacher Will Ramsell is leading the charge as his courses are rigorous but are rewarding for him to teach and for the students to learn. Our passage rate was nearly 80% for ALL AP courses last year, up from previous years. Now, staff and students are looking to carry that momentum through this school year. Our student body had a great experience today with the 'Super U! Challenge.' This one-of-a-kind assembly took place at Patterson Intermediate Learning Center. The assembly uses a unique format of a wacky kid's TV game show to help students understand that their words and actions impact everyone around them. This helps empower our students to do their part to create a safe and friendly school community. The action-packed assembly included lots of audience volunteers who participated in funny challenges with costumes and silly props.

Our first and second graders at Tecumseh Acres Early Learning Center are making sundials! So far, nearly 200 sundials have been made. Right now, the students are taking part in the first activity in the module 'Light: Observing the sun, moon, and stars.' A sundial is the earliest type of timekeeping device. It indicates the time of day by the position of the shadow of some object exposed to the sun's rays. Throughout the day, the sun moves across the sky, causing the shadow of the object to move. That's an indication of the passage of time. #tecumsehpublicschools #STEM #stemeducation
