Tecumseh Public Schools is happy to welcome two new members to the Board of Education.
The TPS Board of Education is made up of seven seats. On the November 8 general election ballot, two board seats were up for grabs as outgoing board members Rebecca Brooks and Suzanne Moore did not run for reelection.
Jacob Martinez and Joshua Mattison secured the vote to become the newest members of the Board of Education. They will each serve four-year terms.
Jacob Martinez is a Tecumseh resident and a retired family doctor. He and his wife have two children, both attending Tecumseh Public Schools.
Joshua Mattison is a Tecumseh resident and the Director of Physical Plant for Ann Arbor Public Schools. He and his wife have two adult children, both of whom graduated from TPS. Joshua is also the former director of facilities and maintenance for TPS.
Jacob and Joshua will be part of a swearing-in ceremony that will take place during the Monday, January 9, 2023, board meeting.
Current board members, Vice President Lynne Davis and Trustee Mary Tommelein, ran unopposed for a partial term each. Both members will serve through the end of December 2024.
We want to thank Secretary Rebecca Brooks and Trustee Suzanne Moore for their leadership, service, and dedication to Tecumseh Public Schools. Their spirit of volunteerism and willingness to go above and beyond for our community and our kids is second to none.
“I want to thank Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Moore for their dedicated service to the district,” said Superintendent Rick Hilderley. “There is no pay for these positions, and a lot of time goes into doing the job correctly. Also, I look forward to working with the oncoming members and the skills that they will bring.”
