Alyssa and Leo

Two Tecumseh Public Schools students have earned a spot in the prestigious Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) All-State Bands, a remarkable achievement in the music community.

  • Alyssa Eder, a 10th grader, secured one of just two high school piccolo positions in the entire state.

  • Leo McInchak, an 8th grader, was selected as one of only four middle school bassoonists statewide.

Both students went through a rigorous blind audition process that included playing scales from memory, performing a prepared piece, and slight-reading music they had never seen before. The competition is steep. Last year, over 2,000 student musicians auditioned for these elite ensembles.

In January, Alyssa and Leo will join other top student musicians from across Michigan to rehearse and perform at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids. This opportunity allows them to showcase their skills and collaborate and talented peers from around the state.

Alyssa and Leo's acceptance into the All-State Bands is a testament to their hard work and dedication. Earning a spot in these elite ensembles is no easy feat and highlights their exceptional commitment to their craft.

The MSBOA All-State Band is one of the highest honors a young musician in Michigan can achieve, and Tecumseh Public Schools is proud to have these outstanding students represent our district.

Congratulations to Alyssa and Leo on this outstanding accomplishment!
