We proudly announce that the Tecumseh Middle School Builders Club has been awarded $955 from the Michigan District of Kiwanis for its exceptional efforts in the annual “Rake a Difference” event. This is a great service project for the Builders Club, which has been doing this for over twenty years!
The school-wide initiative involving 756 students and 63 staff members is a heartwarming tradition where students help senior citizens in our community by raking and bagging leaves. Last year, 40 senior citizens benefited from our students' hard work and dedication.
The event, organized by 14 Builders Club student leaders, gives many of our students their first opportunity to volunteer and make a meaningful difference in the lives of senior citizens. It encourages a spirit of community service and highlights the positive impact young people can have in their neighborhoods.
In recognition of this work, the Builders Club was selected as one of the winners of the Builders Club Service Project Contest within the Michigan District of Kiwanis. Kiwanis members, including members of the Tecumseh Kiwanis Club, presented the award in person at TMS. The money will be used to support future service projects.
The Builders Club looks forward to using this grant to continue their mission of serving the community and hopes to make an even greater impact in the years to come. Stay tuned for more information about future service projects, including this fall’s “Rake a Difference” event.
