TEAM logo

TEAM stands for Tecumseh Enrichment and Acceleration Model. Many states or school systems have their own acronyms or names for similar programs including GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) and a myriad of others that are designed to support students who are ready for challenges beyond the grade level curriculum.

For more information you can see the TEAM Handbook here.

For the current school year TPS is continuing a 4-part implementation of talented and gifted support:

1)  Tecumseh Elementary’s TEAM pull-out program:

The rest of this handbook includes forms that will be used to facilitate the program for the current school year. The program is designed to serve creative high-achieving students who have demonstrated basic skill mastery and are ready to move on to higher level and imaginative projects. Students will leave their regular classrooms for 45 minutes once a week to collaborate in a gifted and talented small group setting. Students may only participate in the program if they qualify and have parental permission.

2) Tecumseh Middle School’s TEAM classes (1 semester – 5th & 6th grade ENCORE):

Qualifying students meet daily for a semester working on higher level challenges with their TEAM peers.

3) Tecumseh TEAM Support Group Parent Meetings:

Parents have implemented a support group that meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the school board meeting room at the Administrative Service Center at 212 N. Ottawa St. in Tecumseh. The group meets to share ideas, create opportunities (game nights, Maker Faire, etc.), and learn more about supporting children’s needs.

4) TPS Multi-Tiered Systems Of Support:

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) defines Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) as an integrated, multi-tiered system of instruction, assessment, and intervention designed to meet the achievement and behavioral health needs of ALL learners. Tecumseh teachers have been trained in this initiative and are committed to designing appropriate support in the classroom.
